Natural Sciences

Natural science gives the basis for the science that is commonly studied in the classroom today. Loosely interpreted natural science refers to the study of the universe and the laws its obeys.

There are different disciplines to natural science and these include astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth science and physics. Astronomy is an area of science that looks at celestial objects outside of the earths atmosphere and takes in aspects of chemistry and physics as well as looking at the formation of the world and how it ended up as it has. Scientists working in this field will look at the stars, planets and galaxies to increase their understanding of how they work.

Biology Is obviously a part of natural science as it studies living organisms, how they are formed and how they work. Molecular Biology is linked to this but is the study of the chemistry of these organisms.

Natural ScienceChemistry is another fundamental part of the natural science umbrella and looks at atomic and molecular matter as well as the elements of life and how they impact upon us and the world around us.

Earth science is a bit of an all encompassing element of natural science and could also be called geoscience. It is the study of anything related to the planet earth such as rock, soil or precious stones for instance.

Physics is really the laws the underpins the workings of all the other sciences and includes laws such as the law of gravity and motion.

There are some very noted universities that offer natural science as a degree subject including the Universities of Cambridge, Durham and Bath.
